Pete and Steve drove to Cambridge to try out a bass rig CLICK “CONTINE READING” for Steve’s story of the trip.
Steve’s Story
Cube Records wanted me to go visit some lads in Cambridge with a view to buying a bass rig off them. I was perfectly happy with my Burman stack but record companies like to shape their artists so off to Cambridge I went. Nice bunch of lads. They were kinda hippy types all living in a house in the country together. One room was given over to their musical explorations and there was gear set up and instruments on stands. I spotted a broken road sign. I can only imagine they had nicked it from the roadside somewhere. Mentally, like a puzzle I was able to deduce what the full sign probably said. “PUBLIC FOOTPATH TO THE ROMAN FORT”. But as it was broken it read “PUBLIC FOOT THE ROMAN”. These guys were Public Foot The Roman. A prog Rock band with a cult following and I’d heard of them. I just did a google search and found this delightful collection of their one and only album. I wonder where they are now? Perhaps collecting their pensions and telling a tale of when a Geordie lad came to visit.
